GOLF ETIQUETTE – DOs AND DON’Ts

Don’t

  • Talk while others are hitting.

  • Step on someone’s line on the green – between the ball and the pin.

  • Distract another golfer by taking practice swings or walking behind them while they are

    putting or teeing off.

  • Cast a shadow across another golfer’s putting line.

  • Offer instruction to another golfer while on the course.

    Do

  • Arrive at least 30 minutes before your tee time. Consider allowing additional time to warm up or practice putting.

  • Make sure to mark your ball before the round and always make sure to play the correct ball.

  • Watch the other player’s ball on the tee shot and assist them to find their ball if needed.

  • Keep up pace of play:

o Have an awareness of where the group ahead and behind you are. If the group ahead is leaving the green when you approach the tee box, you are probably getting behind.

  • Play ready golf. Take your putter when you leave the golf cart to chip onto the green. Or if you are unsure of what your lie might be, carry another club to the ball.

  • Be aware of your golf cart and avoid:

o Parking in front of where someone needs to hit or rolling over their ball.
o Parking too close to the green or inside cart ropes.
o Driving close to another golfer from a different hole while they hit.
o Know the cart path rules.
o If you are unsure of where to leave your cart, sticking to the cart path will keep you out of troubl

  • Replace divots and fix green marks
o When you take a divot, do your best to replace with the same grass or refill with the grass seed on your cart.
o Repair ball marks on the green.

  • Rake sand traps after use.

  • Silence your cell phone.
